The Lagos State Government has announced a 50% reduction in fares on the Blue Line for Thursday, September 4, 2025.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos state governor, disclosed this on Wednesday through his official X account.
He said the Blue Line, launched two years ago, has carried more than “five million passengers safely, without a single accident.”
“Trains now run every ten minutes, making over 90 trips each day. Journeys that once took much longer have become faster and easier,” he wrote.
The governor encouraged more Lagosians to use the service, urging them to take a ride to “see what we have built together.”
The Lagos Blue Line is a core part of the state’s rail mass transit system. The 27-kilometre metro line connects Marina to Okokomaiko.
Phase 1, covering 13 kilometres from Marina to Mile 2, was completed in 2023 and began commercial operations on September 4 of that year.
Phase 2, a 14-kilometre extension from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, is currently under construction by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
It is expected to be completed by 2026 and will include six new stations, additional bridges, and a major depot at Okokomaiko to support maintenance and future expansions.
