The Presidency has dismissed as false a viral video claiming that a presidential chef was arrested over an alleged plot to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The video circulating on social media alleged that a security scare within the Presidential Villa led to the intervention of a special police squad and heightened security measures.
It claimed that intelligence reports pointed to suspicious food preparation activities and that a member of the kitchen staff was taken into custody over a purported poisoning attempt.
Reacting on Sunday, the Presidency described the claims as fake news.
In a statement, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said: “No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video.”
He stressed that no such incident occurred at the Presidential Villa and that no kitchen staff member was arrested over any alleged plot.
