Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has resigned his post with immediate effect.
According to a letter dated 1 December 2025 addressed to President Bola Tinubu, Badaru cited health reasons as the basis for his decision. 
President Tinubu has since accepted his resignation, thanking Badaru for his service to the nation, especially during these times, where insecurity has reared its head. While no comment was made on the matter, A successor is expected to be named in the coming days.
Badaru had served as Defence Minister from 21st August 2023, and before that was the two-term governor of Jigawa State.
