Condemnations, as Boko Haram Unleashes Terror on Borno Community

The former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has lamented the operations of Boko Haram as forming part of the country’s daily life, noting that the insurgency has grown monstrous.

This was disclosed on Friday, 3rd October, 2025, during a public presentation of a book in Abuja, titled: “Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum,” authored by former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor.

Obasanjo charged Nigerians to tackle the menace with critical reflection and thought–provoking questions. The former president emphasized on the necessity to consolidate broader national discussions, while proffering a practical solution to address the ongoing security crisis in the country.

“Boko Haram is now virtually becoming part of our life. Should we accept that? If not, then what should we do?” Obasanjo asked. “How much do we really know? From their side and from ours, have we been active enough? Have we been proactive enough? These are the necessary questions we must ask ourselves if we are to deal with this situation.”

The former President Goodluck Jonathan, including state governors, clerics, and retired and serving services chiefs, were among the dignitaries attending the event; pointing to the significance of the security challenge terrorizing the country.

Fresh Attack Amid Conversation

Meanwhile, in a surprising turn of event, some sections of the terrorist organization were reportedly to have invaded Kirawa town in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno state, forcing residents to flee their homes to a neighboring Cameroon community for safety.

The terrorists soon lit the deserted community, burning houses, shops, places of worship, vehicles, and other infrastructures.

It was also alleged that the Boko Haram terrorists moved forward to set fire, the residence of the District Head of the community, identified as Alhaji Abdulrahaman Abubakar, who also fled his home, together with other family members.

Recall that this will be the second time in two months the terrorist organization will storm the community, launching an identical attack.
